Keyboard Controls

You asked for it, you got it.

In response to a bunch of player requests, we've added keyboard controls. Use the arrow keys to navigate around the playfield.

A bit of background on the controls: Popular wisdom says that most casual web-gamers don't like complicated keyboard controls and that it's better to go with mouse control. The thing that we hadn't anticipated is that fact that there's a good chunk of users who strongly prefer keyboard controls. Also, there's no reason not to include keyboard controls, assuming you've already provided mouse control.

New Customization Feature

Added: Ferocious Bunny!

Bees now run from Pico the rabbit. If you time it right, you can follow behind Pico and grab flowers that were otherwise hard to get at.

Added Wishing Well

Added a little well as a point of emanation for the bees. Previously, the bees would pop out of nowhere and you could get stung without knowing why.

Wrapping Bees to Board

The initial bee setup was such that they'd just wrap from one side of the screen to the other. So you'd see a bee leave the right side of the screen (across the water) and then the bee would immediately pop onto the left side of the screen. This made the edges of the board unexpectedly unsafe.

To fix this, I'm setting up bounds at the edges of the play space so that bees stay on the grassy area. I thought about a few ways to do this. One way is to have each bee project raycasts to see where they're at. The second option, which is what I went with, is to have repelling forces coming from the sides of the board.

In either case, invisible walls are needed to box in the bees. In the actual game, these are set to not be visible.

Hopefully, this little tweak will make the game more fun and less unpredicitable.

New Highscore Board

Added a shiny new high score board that breaks scores down into Personal, Daily, Weekly and Monthly. The old scoreboard really only let the top 1% of players get on there. The new board, especially with the Personal category, lets everyone keep track of their scores.
